In a significant breakthrough, the South Disa Police in Gujarat have arrested a man who has been evading law enforcement for 15 years. The accused, identified as Champalal Kishnaram Jat, aged 42, is from Godara in Rajasthan. He was wanted for vehicle theft. The arrest took place following orders from Akshayraj Makwana, the Superintendent of Police in Banaskantha district, to apprehend absconders.
The police, under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police C.L. Solanki and Police Inspector V.M. Chaudhari, were conducting patrols in the Disa area. During their patrol, they received a tip-off through a human source regarding the location of Champalal. The officers acted swiftly on this information, leading to his capture.
Champalal had been on the run since his alleged involvement in a vehicle theft case. He was living in Bhatal Bangadwakidani, Tehsil Sandhari, District Balochra, Rajasthan. The police have praised their team for their diligence and thorough investigation, which led to the successful operation. Champalal is now facing legal proceedings as the police continue to gather evidence against him.
This arrest is part of a broader effort by Gujarat Police to tackle vehicle thefts in the region. In July 2022, Gujarat’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi launched a citizen portal to facilitate the reporting of vehicle and mobile phone thefts. Since its launch, the police have received nearly 8,000 applications through the portal, with 1,799 FIRs registered. This initiative aims to streamline the process of reporting thefts and ensure that cases are dealt with effectively.
The police department is also running a special drive to recheck applications and register FIRs from February 10 to February 25. This drive is part of a strategy to improve the efficiency of the local police in handling such cases. During this period, officers will visit the locations of reported thefts to gather information and assist victims in filing complaints.
In another recent case, the Vadodara Police cracked down on a notorious vehicle thief named Arvind Jayantibhai Vyas. He was linked to the theft of 31 motorcycles and was apprehended during a routine check. Vyas had a history of vehicle theft and had previously served a two-year sentence for similar crimes. This case highlights the continued efforts of Gujarat Police to combat vehicle theft and ensure public safety.
Overall, the recent arrests and the initiatives by the Gujarat Police underscore a dedicated approach to tackling crime in the state. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to help the police maintain law and order. With advancements in technology and community cooperation, the police aim to reduce crime rates and improve security for all residents.
