Gandhinagar Celebrates International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm

Gandhinagar recently celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. The event took place at the Central Vista Garden and was led by Shankarbhai Chaudhary, the Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Over 3,000 citizens participated in various yoga practices during this celebration. The event also featured the presence of Bhanu Ben Babariya, the Minister of Women and Child Development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation virtually from Visakhapatnam, sending his best wishes for Yoga Day. He highlighted that under his leadership, India has given global recognition to yoga, which he described as a blessing for humanity. According to him, yoga connects the body, mind, intellect, and soul, promoting purification of these elements.

Shankarbhai Chaudhary explained how practicing yoga in open environments helps people understand the importance of oxygen from trees. He emphasized the responsibility to protect these trees and appreciated the natural elements around, such as the chirping of birds and the health of the soil. He stated that yoga brings people closer to nature and helps in its conservation.

During the event, Meera Ben Patel, the Mayor of Gandhinagar, spoke about the significance of yoga. She stated that Yoga Day is a reminder of the power and benefits of yoga, which is not just physical exercise but a dialogue that connects the body, mind, and soul. This connection aids in leading a balanced and peaceful life.

This year, the Gujarat government initiated the ‘Fat-Free Gujarat’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and combat obesity. New yoga studios are being established in various areas of Gandhinagar, including an iconic yoga studio in sector-0, ensuring that everyone can benefit from yoga.

The event also saw the attendance of various dignitaries, including members of the legislative assembly, the municipal commissioner, and a large gathering of yoga enthusiasts, including students and women. The celebration was a testament to the community’s commitment to health and wellness through yoga.

Gandhinagar continues to promote yoga as a means of improving health and well-being. This event marked a significant step in building a culture of wellness in the city, inspiring many to embrace yoga in their daily lives and appreciate the bond with nature and each other.
