The Gandhinagar State Monitoring Cell has made a significant arrest in a foreign liquor smuggling case. A team from the cell conducted a raid near Hirvani village in Kheralu taluka. Based on a tip-off, they set up surveillance on the road returning from Hirvani. During the operation, they stopped a vehicle with the registration number GJ01RX5181 for inspection. Inside the vehicle, they discovered bottles of foreign liquor. The police arrested Jitendra Kumar Darji from Rajasthan.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Rajuram Bishnoi from Sachor, Rajasthan, had supplied the foreign liquor. The liquor was meant to be delivered to Kharol Atmaram, who resides in the Kathwada area of Ahmedabad. The police have announced that three other suspects are wanted in connection with this case. In total, the police seized items worth Rs 15.79 lakh. This includes liquor valued at Rs 8.74 lakh, a vehicle worth Rs 7 lakh, a mobile worth Rs 5,000, and cash of Rs 210.
The Kheralu police station has registered a complaint and is conducting further investigations into the matter. The State Monitoring Cell has the authority to conduct raids on illegal liquor and gambling activities across Gujarat. They can directly handle cases or collaborate with local police if delays occur.
If illegal foreign liquor worth more than Rs 25,000 is seized, or if the value of illegal Indian-made liquor exceeds Rs 15,000, the cases are taken seriously. The State Monitoring Cell is a division of the Gujarat Police that assists in enforcement, coordination, and research activities across the state.
This recent operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Gujarat government to combat crime and strengthen law enforcement. The State Monitoring Cell has been empowered to act decisively against illegal activities and is now operating its police station for serious crime cases. This allows for more efficient and effective handling of investigations.
The establishment of the State Monitoring Cell’s police station was inaugurated by the state police chief, Vikas Sahay, in Gandhinagar. This adds a new dimension to their work, enabling them to register crimes directly after conducting raids.
