In the Manasa taluka of Gandhinagar district, the Sheth H. M. Public High School in Soja held a grand celebration today. This event was for the Girls’ Education Festival and School Enrollment Festival. The ceremony took place in the presence of A. J. Haider, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy and Petroleum Department. Special guests included N. F. Chaudhary, the Managing Director of UGVCL, and S. V. Shah, the Executive Engineer. Raju Bhai Chaudhary, the CRC Coordinator, was also present.
Members of the Soja Education Mandal, including Secretary Ghanshyamsinh Vaghela and various cooperative organizations, attended the ceremony. Many officials from the parents’ association were also present. This year, students enrolling in the 9th and 11th grades received essential supplies like notebooks, pens, and uniforms from generous donors.
Outstanding students from the previous year who achieved the highest marks received awards such as prizes and shields. Students also presented speeches on topics like “Remove Plastic, Save the Environment” and “The Harmful Effects of Addiction”. At the end of the program, invited guest speakers and government representatives planted trees as part of the environmental initiative.
The purpose of this festival is to encourage education among girls and to reduce dropout rates in schools. In Gujarat, the government has introduced an Early Warning System to identify students at risk of dropping out. This initiative aims to ensure that every child receives education and is not left behind. Over 168,000 students have been identified as at risk this year, and special attention will be given to them.
The School Enrollment Festival is part of a broader initiative started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2002, aimed at ensuring that no child is deprived of their right to education. The dropout rate for students from grades 1 to 8 has significantly decreased from 37.22% in 2001 to just 2.42% in 2023.
The education department’s efforts to engage parents and communities have been crucial in achieving these results. Parents of at-risk students will be invited to attend the School Enrollment Festival, where they will learn about the importance of education for their children’s growth and development.
The event in Soja is a positive step towards promoting girls’ education and community involvement in school activities. It highlights the importance of collective efforts to ensure that every child has access to quality education. The joy and excitement seen on the faces of the students at this celebration remind us of the value of education in transforming lives and communities.
Future initiatives will continue to focus on retaining students in schools and providing them with the resources they need to succeed. The government is committed to achieving a zero dropout rate across all education levels in the state. With the support of the community, it is hopeful that these goals will be met, ensuring a brighter future for the children of Gujarat.
