Palanpur experienced a sudden downpour, leading to serious flooding. The city received 8 inches of rain overnight, causing Gobri Lake to overflow. This situation required immediate action from local authorities.
The heavy rainfall resulted in waterlogging across Palanpur, especially on Gobri Road where the lake is located. Local MLA Aniket Thakar and the district officials rushed to the site to assess the situation. They held discussions on necessary steps to prevent the lake from breaching its banks.
Unfortunately, the overflow affected the nearby market yard. Water entered the area, damaging bags of fertiliser and grains stored there. Residents are now worried that if more rain falls, the situation could worsen, putting their lives at risk.
Many locals are calling for a long-term solution. They suggest that the excess water from Gobri Lake should be diverted through pipelines to Umrad. This would help manage the water levels and prevent future flooding.
The local government has been urged to take this demand seriously to ensure the safety of the residents. As the monsoon continues, the focus remains on effective water management in Palanpur to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall.
