In the wake of a tragic bridge collapse in the Vadodara-Anand district, officials in Panchmahal have ramped up safety inspections of bridges across the state. On November 11, a team from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, along with the Deputy Collector and municipal officers, conducted a detailed inspection of the Satpul Bridge in Godhra city.
The Satpul Bridge was built in 1995 after a previous structure collapsed due to heavy rains in 1989. Now, nearly 30 years later, the bridge is showing signs of wear. Officials noted that iron rods had protruded from the walls and roadway, raising concerns about its structural integrity.
Following the unfortunate incident of the bridge collapse in the nearby area, there has been a surge in calls for immediate inspections of bridges throughout Gujarat. Responding to these demands, the Panchmahal Deputy Collector and the R&B team have initiated a comprehensive evaluation of all bridges in the district. They aim to identify any faults and prepare detailed reports to ensure safety.
The inspections are crucial to prevent any future accidents. Officials hope that these proactive measures will help in safeguarding lives and maintaining public trust in infrastructure. The community is also urged to report any visible damage or concerns regarding local bridges.
Residents are reminded of the importance of public safety and the need for regular maintenance of infrastructure. The government is committed to ensuring that all bridges are safe for public use. As inspections continue, further updates will be shared with the community to keep them informed about the safety of their local infrastructure.
