Gujarat Announces Gram Panchayat Elections for June 2023

The Gujarat State Election Commission has officially announced the dates for the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections. Voting will take place on June 22, 2023, and the counting of votes will occur on June 25, 2023. This information was shared during a press conference held by State Election Commissioner S. Murali Krishnan.

During the press conference, Krishnan detailed the election process. He stated that voting will be held across 8,326 Gram Panchayats in the state. Additionally, there will be by-elections in 3,638 Gram Panchayats. The official notification regarding the elections will be released on June 2, 2023.

Candidates interested in running for the Gram Panchayat elections can submit their nomination papers until June 9, 2023. After the submission period, the verification of the nomination papers will take place on June 10, 2023. Candidates will also have the option to withdraw their nominations until June 11, 2023.

Once the elections are announced, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect. This code ensures that the elections are conducted fairly and without any undue influence. It is essential for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process in the state.
