Gujarat ATS Arrests Spy for Pakistan Near Kutch

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has achieved a significant success. They have arrested a spy near the Kutch border. The suspect has been identified as Sahdev Gohil.

According to officials, Sahdev Gohil worked as a health worker in Dayapar, Kutch. He is accused of being involved in espionage activities sponsored by Pakistan. During the investigation, it was revealed that Sahdev was in contact with a woman named Aditi Bhardwaj, who is believed to be a Pakistani spy.

Suspicion arose that Gohil was continuously in contact with an ISI handler. It was claimed that he allegedly shared sensitive information about the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) with Pakistan. In return, Gohil received 40,000 rupees. Authorities suspect that Aditi may not be a real person but a pseudonym used by a Pakistani handler.

The Gujarat ATS achieved this success after receiving information about Gohil. SP K. Siddharth stated that Gohil had been sharing information related to the BSF and IAF with Pakistani agents. He was called for preliminary questioning on May 1.

During June and July 2023, it was discovered that Gohil had contacted Aditi Bhardwaj via WhatsApp. Through conversations, he learned she was a Pakistani agent. She requested photographs and videos of BSF and IAF construction sites or newly established locations. Gohil began sharing these images and videos via WhatsApp.

Gohil also mentioned that at the beginning of 2025, he purchased a SIM card in his name and activated it for Aditi using an OTP. After that, he shared all relevant photos and videos with her. He was also allegedly given 40,000 rupees in cash by an unknown person. His phone has been sent to the FSL for analysis. WhatsApp numbers registered under Aditi Bhardwaj are reportedly operating from Pakistan. The ATS has filed a case against Sahdev Gohil and the Pakistani agent Aditi Bhardwaj under sections 61 and 148 of the BNS Act.

In a related incident, on the night of May 23, a Pakistani infiltrator attempting to enter Indian territory in Banaskantha district was shot dead by BSF personnel. The BSF reported that the soldiers spotted a suspicious individual crossing the international border towards the border fence. They challenged the infiltrator, who continued to advance, leading to the necessity of opening fire. The infiltrator died at the scene.

This recent arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Gujarat ATS to combat espionage and protect national security. The collaboration between local authorities and national intelligence agencies remains crucial in addressing these threats. As investigations continue, the focus will be on uncovering the broader network involved in such espionage activities. The case serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges faced in border security and the need for vigilance against foreign influences.
