In Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has ordered local district administrations to resolve farmers’ issues quickly. This was announced during the ‘Swagat’ programme, which took place on a Thursday. In this event, farmers raised long-standing concerns that need urgent attention. The Chief Minister directed officials to find solutions within a specific timeframe.
The ‘Swagat’ programme is held every fourth Thursday of the month. In the May 2025 edition, the Chief Minister listened to the issues of 11 petitioners. These concerns mostly involved land measurements, land acquisition, and issues related to construction stamp duty. Other matters presented included those related to the police and local government bodies.
In total, around 90 petitioners presented various issues during the May 2025 state-level Swagat programme. The Chief Minister emphasized transparency in governance and urged district officials to resolve these issues promptly.
District-level Swagat programmes are also held regularly, chaired by the district collector. In these local meetings, officials heard 1,103 complaints from citizens, providing necessary directives for resolution. At the taluka level, 2,503 petitions were addressed, bringing the total to 3,617 complaints. Impressively, about 52% of these complaints were resolved on-site, showcasing the government’s commitment to swift and transparent governance.
The Swagat programme featured various senior officials including M.K. Das, the Chief Secretary, and other senior secretaries from relevant departments.
