Gujarat Chief Minister Hosts Yoga Event with 15,000 Participants

On a bright morning at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led a large yoga event, attended by over 15,000 citizens. The event was part of the preparations for the International Yoga Day 2025. Organised by the Gujarat State Yoga Board, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, and local administrative bodies, this yoga camp aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle under the ‘Healthy Gujarat, Obesity-Free Gujarat’ campaign.

The yoga session was a grand gathering that included not just local citizens but also prominent figures, including the Chief Minister himself. As the sun rose, participants spread their mats on the lush green grounds, eager to embrace the benefits of yoga. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and positivity as everyone joined in the practice.

Shishpal Rajput, the Chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, opened the event by encouraging everyone to make yoga an integral part of their lives. He highlighted the importance of yoga and pranayama, which are not merely physical exercises but also essential for mental and spiritual well-being.

During the event, participants were guided through various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques by expert yoga instructors. This was part of the common yoga protocol training, aimed at teaching attendees the fundamentals of yoga practice. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries also participated, demonstrating their commitment to promoting health and wellness.

State Minister for Youth and Cultural Activities, Harsh Sanghvi, spoke about the government’s initiative under the ‘Healthy Gujarat’ campaign. Minister Sanghvi noted that yoga is a vital part of Indian culture. He emphasized that it helps establish a connection between the mind, body, and soul. He urged all citizens to take inspiration from this event and join the ‘Healthy Gujarat’ campaign.

The event also reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio show, where he spoke about the need to combat obesity through yoga. The Chief Minister’s leadership in promoting this initiative signifies the government’s commitment to improving public health in Gujarat.

The participants not only practiced yoga but also learned about healthy lifestyles and nutrition. The yoga camp aimed to address issues like hypertension and obesity, providing guidance on maintaining a balanced diet and active lifestyle. Experts discussed the benefits of regular yoga practice and meditation in reducing stress and enhancing overall quality of life.

In addition to the yoga sessions, the event featured discussions on the importance of integrating yoga into daily routines. Shishpal Rajput and other yoga board members highlighted the need for continuous practice and the positive effects it has on health. They encouraged attendees to adopt yoga as a lifestyle choice, which can lead to a more energetic and fulfilling life.

The Chief Minister’s yoga event was not only about physical fitness but also about fostering a sense of community and well-being among the participants. It brought together people from all walks of life, including local leaders, citizens, and yoga enthusiasts, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and health awareness.

As the event concluded, many participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to practice yoga together.
