Gujarat Chief Minister Launches 11 New Environmental Projects

On June 5, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, launched 11 new projects aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability in the state. This event took place at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, attended by key officials including the Minister of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, Mulubhai Bera, and State Minister Mukeshbhai Patel.

The projects include the virtual inauguration of new buildings for the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) in Bharuch, the groundbreaking of an office in Ahmedabad, and a virtual launch of an air laboratory in Morbi. These developments will help industries near these locations access various services more easily.

In addition, a new Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for plastic industries was inaugurated virtually in Halol. This facility aims to strengthen efforts to reduce water pollution in the area.

The Gujarat Oil Recycling Association (GORA) also launched a waste oil collection center as part of a circular economy initiative. This center will help in the proper management of waste oils, contributing to environmental protection.

E-governance remains a priority for the state government. The GPCB has revamped its e-governance platform to better serve the public and promote environmental governance. The new PM Gati Shakti portal will provide essential tools for environmental management, making processes more efficient.

Moreover, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries launched a new application portal and website for the Gujarat Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA). This digital platform will facilitate project applications, online fee payments, and complaint resolutions, aligning with the ‘Digital India’ initiative.

Other notable launches included the advanced XGN portal for waste management, a Climate Change Department GHG emissions portal, and virtual inauguration of bag vending machines in Ahmedabad and Surat.

These initiatives reflect the state government’s commitment to transparency and effective governance. By launching these projects, the government aims to enhance environmental conservation and support sustainable development in Gujarat. The Chief Minister expressed hope that these efforts would lead to a balanced development approach while ensuring business facilitation for entrepreneurs in Gujarat. The projects are expected to contribute significantly to achieving the state’s environmental goals and improving the quality of life for its residents.
