Gujarat Chief Minister Reviews Plans for Successful Rath Yatra

In Ahmedabad, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting to discuss the upcoming traditional Rath Yatra, set to take place on the auspicious day of Ashadhi Beej. This meeting was aimed at ensuring the 148th edition of the Rath Yatra proceeds smoothly and safely. The Chief Minister was joined by key officials including the State Home Minister, Chief Secretary, and the Police Commissioner, among others.

The Rath Yatra is a significant festival celebrated in Gujarat, symbolising unity and joy. Chief Minister Patel highlighted the importance of celebrating this festival in a peaceful manner. The route for the Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad spans 16 kilometres, and detailed preparations have been made by the city police to maintain law and order.

A notable addition this year is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to enhance security. AI will be employed for crowd management and fire alerts during the event. This innovative approach aims to prevent overcrowding at any location along the route and ensure quick responses to any emergencies, such as fire incidents.

Overall, over 23,884 security personnel, including police officers and commandos, will be deployed during the Rath Yatra. The police have planned extensive monitoring measures, including 227 cameras, 41 drones, and 2,872 body-worn cameras for live surveillance. This will allow the police control room to keep a close eye on the entire route.

Furthermore, 17 assistance centres and 44 public address systems will be set up along the route to support the public during the event. The city police and local authorities have also taken steps to prevent people from gathering near dilapidated buildings along the route, ensuring safety for all attendees.

In addition to security measures, several community activities have been planned leading up to the Rath Yatra. These include cricket matches, volleyball tournaments, and blood donation camps aimed at promoting social unity.

Chief Minister Patel expressed confidence that the Rath Yatra would be a joyous event, facilitated by public participation and the diligence of the police force. He also sought guidance from the state police chief to ensure a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere across all locations where the Rath Yatra is celebrated.

This traditional festival not only reflects the religious devotion of the people but also showcases the spirit of community and togetherness. The government is committed to making this year’s Rath Yatra a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
