The Gujarat Common Admission System (GCAS) portal is making it easier for students to apply to various universities in the state. This system helps students apply for multiple programmes and colleges with just one application. It is a great way for students who have completed their 12th grade to secure a place in higher education. In the 2025-26 academic year, 4.21 lakh students passed their 12th-grade exams. Out of these, 3.15 lakh students have verified their applications for undergraduate courses. So far, 1.27 lakh students have confirmed their admissions. The next round of admissions will start on June 21 and will end on July 3, 2025.
The GCAS portal allows students to apply for various courses in different universities from the comfort of their homes. This means students can choose multiple programmes and colleges according to their preferences. The system also provides updates via SMS and WhatsApp about admission offers and important dates.
In the first phase, students showed great interest in several programmes at Gujarat University. 56,005 students selected different courses, and 34,911 received offers based on merit. Among these, 16,171 students confirmed their admissions.
The admission process is straightforward. Students need to fill out their applications on the GCAS portal and pay the required fees. The GCAS system is designed to simplify the admission process and ensure students can easily access higher education opportunities.
For postgraduate courses, the registration process for GCAS started on May 29. Students have until June 7 to complete their applications. The first round of admissions for postgraduate programmes will finish by June 20, 2025.
Students can also make changes to their applications if they wish to change their preferred colleges or programmes. They can do this on July 2 and 3, 2025, if they have already applied in the first phase. This flexibility allows students to refine their choices based on their interests and career goals.
The GCAS portal is an initiative by the Gujarat Education Department.
