The Gujarat Giants are gearing up for the new season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). Recently, the team held a fitness camp for its players in Gandhinagar. Head coach Jaivir Sharma led the camp, which included players Himanshu Jaglan and Rakesh Sungroya. Jaivir shared a key message: team work is essential. “Kabaddi is a team sport. Every player must work together to succeed,” he said. This motto will guide the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Jaivir Sharma is a respected figure in Indian kabaddi. He has over 30 years of experience and has coached many successful players. He has won multiple championships and has been part of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) since 1992. Under his leadership, the Indian kabaddi team has won gold medals at major events, including the Asian Games and the Kabaddi World Cup.
“I’m excited to join Gujarat Giants. My goal is to develop a fearless team that can compete for the title,” Jaivir said. He aims to build a strong squad during the upcoming player auction, scheduled for May 31 to June 1.
The Gujarat Giants have a history of nurturing young talent. They have produced star players like Rohit Gulia and Pawan Sehrawat. The team is focused on creating a supportive environment for its players and coaches.
Varinder Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new assistant coach. Varinder has a strong background in kabaddi, having coached the Indian women’s team to several victories. He is enthusiastic about his new role. “It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of the Gujarat Giants. I look forward to building a solid squad for the new season,” he stated.
Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, welcomed the new coaching staff. He expressed confidence in their ability to lead the Giants to victory. “We are delighted to have Jaivir and Varinder on board. Their experience will help us achieve our goal of winning the title,” he said.
The fitness camp is just the beginning of the team’s preparations. Rakesh Sungroya, a player with the team since 2021, shared his excitement about the upcoming season. “We have a fitness camp now, and the main training camp starts on the 25th of this month. We are committed to working hard and preparing well,” he concluded.
