On a tragic Saturday evening, a plane crash in Ahmedabad resulted in the loss of 11 foreign nationals. The Gujarat government has taken swift action to support the families of the victims. Alok Pandey, the Relief Commissioner, together with Rajnish Patel, the Additional Superintendent of Civil Hospital, held a press conference to share details about the ongoing relief efforts.
The government has assigned special teams for each family impacted by this tragedy. Each team includes a senior officer, a police officer, and a professional counsellor. They will assist in transporting the deceased back to their homes and provide all necessary support. Families will also receive counselling services to help them cope with their loss.
As part of the identification process, DNA matching is being conducted. The authorities reported that by Saturday evening, DNA samples of all 11 victims had been successfully matched, with one body already identified and returned to its family with respect. Alok Pandey stated that the government has contacted the families of all victims from 18 districts in Gujarat.
In addition, the government has set up a call center to maintain communication with families, addressing their concerns and questions. As soon as the bodies arrive at their homes, local officials will issue an inheritance certificate to assist families in dealing with legal matters more smoothly.
The families of the 11 foreign victims have also been contacted through their respective embassies. Special coordination is taking place with the British government to ensure that the bodies of British nationals can be returned to their families with ease.
Meanwhile, the health of the sole survivor of the crash, a citizen from Diu, has stabilised and they are responding well to treatment.
