Gujarat Government Distributes ₹366 Crores to Over 17 Lakh Beneficiaries

The Gujarat government has announced a significant financial aid of ₹366 crores to support over 17.44 lakh beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and other backward classes. This initiative aims to enhance educational and economic opportunities for these communities. The funds were distributed digitally by Bhanu Ben Babariya, the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, during a virtual event from Gandhinagar.

Minister Babariya stated that providing planned benefits to all citizens is their commitment. “Through this e-distribution programme, we will help backward class students secure a bright future and support economically weaker sections of society,” she said. The entire process has been made online to ensure transparency in the distribution of benefits.

The aid includes ₹27.83 crores for educational support and loan repayments to 1,40,191 beneficiaries. The minister highlighted that these funds will significantly impact the lives of the recipients, especially students from the backward classes.

The distribution is part of various schemes implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, ₹291.92 crores has been allocated to 17,28,224 students. Additionally, the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Housing Scheme has provided ₹21.56 crores to 4,017 beneficiaries, while the Kunwarbai Mameru Scheme has assisted 10,239 daughters with ₹12.28 crores.

Babariya emphasized the importance of community development, stating that when women, children, the elderly, the disabled, and the underprivileged thrive, the entire society benefits. She also mentioned that it is a collective responsibility to ensure the holistic development of all citizens.

The financial aid aims to empower underprivileged communities, giving them the necessary resources to improve their living conditions. The government has also introduced employment-oriented and educational loan schemes under various corporations, assisting 1,476 beneficiaries with ₹33.12 crores in loans.

The minister’s remarks reflect the government’s commitment to social equity. She asserted that the online distribution of benefits is a step towards ensuring that all citizens receive the support they need without any hindrance.

This initiative is expected to create a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, enabling them to pursue education and improve their economic status. The government aims to continue supporting these communities through various welfare schemes designed for their upliftment.

In attendance at the event were senior officials from the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, including Mohammad Shahid, the Principal Secretary, and other key figures from the implementing corporations. The presence of these dignitaries underscored the importance of this initiative and the collective effort required to uplift marginalized sections of society.

As Gujarat moves forward, such initiatives are essential in bridging the gap between different social classes and fostering a more inclusive society. By ensuring that every citizen has access to educational opportunities and financial support, the government is laying the groundwork for a brighter future for all.
