In Gujarat, the state government is helping students prepare for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, and GUJCET. Under the Education Assistance Scheme, eligible students can receive financial aid of ₹20,000 directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This initiative aims to support students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) in their academic journeys.
The program aligns with the government’s motto, ‘Saubhagya Sabka, Sabko Aage Badhao’, which means ‘Everyone benefits, everyone progresses’. The primary goal is to ensure that quality education reaches all students, enabling them to pursue their dreams and make their families proud.
In the last five years, 9,229 students from SC and OBC categories have benefited from this scheme. This includes 8,794 students from OBC and 435 students from SC categories who received assistance for exam preparation.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Bhanu Ben Babariya have emphasized the importance of this scheme in providing students with high-quality coaching. The budget for the years 2025-26 includes ₹60 lakh for 300 students from SC and ₹6 crore for 3,000 students from OBC for coaching assistance.
To apply for this help, students must register online at esamaj.kalyan.gujarat.gov.in. It is important to note that students can only benefit from this scheme once.
Eligible students must have scored at least 70% in Class 10 and be studying in Class 12 with a science stream. Additionally, the family income limit for OBC students is set at ₹6 lakh per year.
To complete their applications, students need to provide several documents. These include a copy of the caste certificate, Class 10 mark sheet, a bonafide certificate from their Class 12 school, proof of residence, a copy of the Aadhaar card, bank details, and proof of payment for coaching fees.
This initiative is a significant step towards helping students from SC and OBC categories achieve their career goals. Eligible students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to secure a bright future.
