Gujarat Governor Travels with Common People on GSRTC Bus

In a unique initiative, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat travelled to Anand by bus, interacting with the public along the way. This journey aimed to break away from traditional VIP protocols. The Governor took a non-AC super deluxe GSRTC bus from Gandhinagar to Anand, where he attended a natural farming dialogue at Anand Agricultural University.

The memorable journey began at 7:30 AM on a Sunday. The Governor arrived at the Gandhinagar bus depot without prior notice and boarded the bus with other passengers. His ticket was booked online in advance, and he was eager to experience the common life of the citizens. The bus followed a predetermined route, passing through Ahmedabad, including stops at Raniyap and Gitamandir, before reaching Anand at around 10:15 AM.

Governor Devvrat expressed his happiness about the journey. He shared that it had been his long-standing wish to travel with ordinary citizens on a state-run bus. During the trip, he had the chance to meet and talk to various people, making the experience joyful and memorable for him.

This initiative is a part of the Governor’s efforts to connect with the community and understand their experiences better. It also promotes the idea of simplicity and accessibility in governance. Acharya Devvrat, who has been serving as the Governor since July 2019, has a background in promoting social causes, including women’s education and environmental awareness. His approach reflects a desire to bridge the gap between government officials and the public.

The bus journey showcased a refreshing change in how high-ranking officials can engage with the community. It not only allowed the Governor to understand the people’s perspectives but also encouraged citizens to feel more connected to their leaders. This kind of outreach can inspire others in positions of authority to follow suit, fostering a culture of openness and communication.

Moreover, the interaction during the journey highlighted various local issues, giving the Governor first-hand insights into the challenges faced by the people of Gujarat. These insights can be valuable for shaping policies that directly affect the community. By stepping away from formalities and embracing the common man’s experience, the Governor set a precedent for more inclusive governance.

Such initiatives can strengthen the relationship between the citizens and their leaders, promoting trust and collaboration. As the Governor continues his term, it will be interesting to see how these interactions influence his approach to governance and community engagement in Gujarat.
