On July 1, 2023, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched a new campaign aimed at ensuring the safety, happiness, and dignity of citizens across the state. The initiative, named the Citizen Safety Saturation Campaign, seeks to make sure that all eligible individuals receive benefits from various welfare schemes. The campaign will run until September 30, 2023, covering three months of extensive outreach.
During the launch event in Gandhinagar, Chief Minister Patel highlighted the importance of these welfare schemes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed that the central government prioritizes the common man in all welfare initiatives. The campaign aims to reach out to individuals in their homes, ensuring that they receive the social and economic security benefits they are entitled to.
Patel also distributed cheques to beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Insurance Scheme, providing each with ₹2 lakh for family support in case of death. Additionally, he handed over a bank passbook to a recipient of the Jan Dhan scheme.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting those who are still deprived of government welfare benefits. He stated that it is the government’s social responsibility to uplift underprivileged individuals and bring them to the forefront of development. He urged everyone involved to ensure that benefits reach the last person in society, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India.
To ensure the campaign’s success, district collectors, development officers, and bank officials have been instructed to create district action plans. These plans will help achieve the saturation targets set for the various welfare schemes. The campaign will also focus on raising awareness about financial inclusion and other key initiatives.
The state’s Chief Secretary, Pankaj Joshi, and senior officials from the finance department were present at the launch. They discussed various financial welfare schemes, including the Prime Minister’s Life Insurance Scheme and the Atal Pension Scheme, which are vital for providing social security.
During the campaign, officials aim to open more Jan Dhan accounts and ensure that financial services reach all corners of the state. The government has already opened approximately 1.93 crore Jan Dhan accounts, with significant benefits disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT).
The Citizen Safety Saturation Campaign is a significant step towards providing comprehensive social security to the people of Gujarat. It reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring that all citizens lead safe, secure, and dignified lives. As the campaign progresses, officials will closely monitor its impact and ensure that no one is left behind in accessing the benefits of these crucial welfare initiatives.
