Gujarat School Admission Festival to Promote Education and Empower Girls

The Gujarat government is set to host its annual School Admission Festival from June 26 to 28, 2025. This event will see over 400 officials, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and various ministers, participating across rural and urban areas. This year’s initiative aims to enroll about 25.75 lakh children from Balvatika (pre-school) to Class 11.

The festival will take place in 1,529 government secondary and higher secondary schools, 824 government primary schools, and 5,134 grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools. Chief Minister Patel highlighted that this is the 23rd edition of the School Admission Festival, which aims to promote girls’ education. The theme for this year’s festival is “Let’s make the School Admission Festival a Community Festival.”

This initiative has its roots in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who started this festival during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2002-03. The Chief Minister noted the significant improvements in the education sector over the last 22 years, emphasizing teamwork and the importance of feedback from past festivals to enhance future outcomes.

During the event, students will receive educational kits containing 30 useful materials aimed at improving their physical and mental well-being. This aligns with the new National Education Policy of 2020, which focuses on holistic and engaging learning experiences for children. The educational kits will include items such as notebooks, storybooks, and educational toys, as well as materials for special needs students.

Education Minister Dr. Kuber Dindor mentioned that this year, the festival will also focus on promoting admissions from Class 8 to Class 9 and Class 10 to Class 11. An AI-based tracking system will be implemented to monitor potential dropouts and provide targeted support. This approach aims to shift the focus from exams to overall performance and learning outcomes.

The Chief Secretary, Pankaj Joshi, stated that the School Admission Festival is not just limited to the education department but involves all sectors in a mission mode approach. This collaborative effort aims to enhance primary education as a humanitarian task, garnering support from the community.

In summary, the Gujarat School Admission Festival is a major initiative aimed at enhancing education accessibility, particularly for girls, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to receive quality education. This event not only marks a significant step towards educational reform but also celebrates community involvement in shaping the future of Gujarat’s children.
