Gujarat Sees Low Registration for Nursing and Paramedical Courses

In Gujarat, the registration process for B.Sc Nursing and other paramedical courses has not attracted enough students. Only 30,851 students have registered for 51,000 available seats. This situation means that even if all registered students secure admission, over 20,000 seats will remain vacant.

The registration for various courses started recently. These courses include B.Sc Nursing, GNM, ANM, B. Optometry, Occupational Therapy, and others. The total number of available seats for these courses is 51,331 across 1,104 colleges.

As of now, 31,779 students have purchased PINs for registration, but only 30,851 completed the registration. Additionally, 25,939 students have finished their document verification. The results for the NEET exam, which many students are waiting for, have not yet been released. This delay may lead to another round of registration for admissions in the upcoming days.

Many students who cannot secure a place in medical, dental, or Ayurvedic colleges based on NEET results are looking at paramedical courses. The admission committee had set a deadline for registration that ended on June 11. Now, with the NEET results pending, there is a possibility that the committee will have to reopen registration for students who did not achieve the required marks.

It is concerning that with the current number of registered students, a significant number of seats will still be unfilled. Therefore, the admission committee may need to consider starting the registration process again after the NEET results are declared.

Interestingly, in the face of these vacant seats, various institutions have applied for the approval of new nursing colleges. This could mean that more seats will be added to the admission process before it begins. The education landscape in Gujarat is evolving, but the current registration numbers show a need for better outreach and support for students considering paramedical careers.

The education department is urged to respond to this issue, ensuring that students are aware of the opportunities available to them in the healthcare sector. The demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow, and it is essential for the institutions to attract more students into these vital fields. As the process unfolds, stakeholders hope to see a more significant number of applicants in the future.
