On June 2, 2023, the results for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced were announced. Remarkably, seven students from Gujarat placed in the top 100 nationwide. Rajit Gupta from IIT Delhi scored 332 out of 360, securing the first position in India. Mohit from Ahmedabad stood out as the top student in Gujarat, ranking 12th in the country. Agam Shah from Surat followed closely, achieving a remarkable 17th position overall.
This year, about 182,000 students took the JEE Advanced exam, which is essential for admission to prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. The performance of Gujarat’s students was commendable, reflecting their hard work and dedication.

1. Mohit: 12th rank, Ahmedabad
2. Agam Shah: 17th rank, Surat
3. Manan Patel: 43rd rank, Ahmedabad
4. Rishabh: 48th rank
5. Shiven: 58th rank
6. Kalp Shah: 86th rank
7. Adit Bhagate: 94th rank, Vadodara
In Surat, seven students excelled, showcasing the city’s academic talent. Agam Shah became the city topper with his 17th rank, while Kalp Shah followed in 86th place. Other notable mentions include Moksh Bhatt, Kanishk Singh, Hitansh Gandhi, Vishv Pandya, and Yash Kothari.
After the results were declared, Agam expressed his happiness and shared his study routine. He dedicated two years to preparing for the JEE Advanced, studying for 10 to 12 hours daily. He avoided social media distractions, using WhatsApp only for study-related purposes. Agam aims to pursue Computer Science Engineering at IIT Mumbai.
Kalp Shah also shared his journey, stating he prepared for both JEE Mains and Advanced for the past two years. He would study four to five hours during classes and up to 12 hours on days without classes.
The JEE Advanced exam is known for its difficulty. Candidates are assessed on their performance in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a maximum score of 360. The exam consists of two papers, each contributing to the total score.
With the results now out, successful candidates can begin the admission process into various institutions through the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) counselling. This process will allow them to select their preferred colleges based on their ranks.
The achievement of these students highlights the quality of education in Gujarat and the hard work of both students and educators. Their success stories will inspire many more aspiring engineers in the future.
