In Gujarat, the School Admission Festival for the academic year 2025-26 will take place from June 26 to June 28. This initiative aims to register all eligible children for school. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and over 400 officials, including IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, will participate in this statewide event.
The festival will cover a total of 25.75 lakh children, from Balvatika (pre-school) to Class 11. It includes 1,529 government secondary and higher secondary schools, 824 government primary schools, and 5,134 grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools. This year marks the 23rd edition of the festival, which promotes education for girls.
Chief Minister Patel stated that the inspiration for this festival comes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of inclusive education and the need for teamwork to make this event successful. The festival is part of a broader effort to improve education in Gujarat, which has seen significant reforms over the past 22 years.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Let’s Make the School Admission Festival a Community Celebration.” The event aims to create an environment where more children enroll in government schools. The Chief Minister encouraged officials to ensure that girls receive quality education from Class 9 to 12, supported by initiatives like the Namo Lakshmi and Namo Saraswati schemes.
Education Minister Dr. Kuber Dindor highlighted that this year, there will be a focus on admissions from Class 8 to 9 and from Class 10 to 11. An AI-based tracking system will help identify potential dropouts, allowing for targeted support. The approach will focus on performance and improvement rather than traditional examinations.
Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi explained that the School Admission Festival is not just limited to the education department. It brings together various departments in what he calls a ‘Mission Mode’ initiative. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen primary education and encourage community participation.
Overall, the School Admission Festival represents a key step in Gujarat’s ongoing commitment to improving educational access and quality for all children, particularly girls. The event is expected to create excitement and engagement among communities, fostering a supportive atmosphere for education in the state.
