A major development in Gujarat took place recently with the virtual inauguration of 18 railway stations, revamped at a cost of ₹164 crores. This initiative is part of the Amrit Station Scheme, which aims to modernise over 1,300 railway stations across India. The event was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Bikaner, Rajasthan, and was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who highlighted the importance of this project for the state’s infrastructure.
These 18 stations include key locations such as Limbdi, Shihor Junction, and Morbi. The state government is investing ₹6,303 crores to modernise a total of 87 railway stations in Gujarat, reflecting a significant commitment to improving railway services and facilities for passengers.
During the event, Chief Minister Patel explained that since Prime Minister Modi took office, there has been a strong focus on enhancing infrastructure for better service delivery. He mentioned that 97% of railway routes in Gujarat have been electrified, which is part of a broader effort to modernise the railway system.
The Amrit Station Scheme is not only about refurbishing stations; it aims to transform the travel experience for millions. The modernisation includes new technologies and amenities that cater to the needs of today’s passengers. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these developments will greatly enhance railway services and passenger amenities in Gujarat.
The list of stations that have been revamped includes Dakor, Hapa, Jamjodhpur, and Okha, among others. These upgrades are expected to make train travel more comfortable and efficient, aligning with national goals of improved public transport.
The Chief Minister also noted that the budget allocation for railways in Gujarat has significantly increased, with ₹17,155 crores dedicated for the year 2025-26 alone. This is a remarkable rise compared to previous budgets, showcasing the government’s commitment to rail infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the introduction of Vande Bharat trains in Gujarat, which provide high-speed travel options. This network aims to connect popular tourist destinations like the Statue of Unity, making travel easier for both domestic and international tourists.
During the inauguration ceremony, various officials and community members gathered to witness the event. They expressed their appreciation for the government’s efforts to bring modern facilities to smaller towns, ensuring they receive services comparable to those in larger cities.
As the state moves forward with these developments, the focus remains on ensuring that railway services are not only efficient but also enhance the quality of life for all citizens. The government’s commitment to improving transport infrastructure is seen as a key step towards better connectivity and economic growth in the region.
In conclusion, the virtual inauguration of these railway stations marks a significant milestone in Gujarat’s journey towards modernisation and improved public transport. With continued investments and focus on infrastructure, the future looks promising for railway services in the state.
