The Anganwadi Enrollment Festival in Gujarat aims to provide quality pre-primary education to children aged 3 to 6 years. This year, more than 1.5 lakh children will be enrolled in over 53,000 Anganwadi centres across the state. This includes 77,570 boys and 73,379 girls. The festival is held annually under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Women and Child Development Minister Bhanu Ben Babariya.
The initiative has seen great success in recent years. In the last three years, over 5 lakh children have enrolled in Anganwadi centres, contributing to the development of education in Gujarat. The state’s enrollment rate stands at 87.6%, which is higher than the national average of 66.8% for pre-primary education.
Anganwadi centres provide informal education through play and activities. They focus on the physical, language, intellectual, social, and emotional development of children. The environment is designed to encourage self-control and interaction among children, promoting a sense of discipline.
Activities in Anganwadi include circle time, thematic discussions, songs, stories, rhymes, and other engaging learning experiences. A digital calendar is prepared for parents. This calendar outlines weekly activities, daily exercises for children, and guidance on what children will learn each month.
Additionally, the ‘My Development Journey’ book helps track the holistic development of children. Special events are organized, such as Children’s Day celebrations, festivals, and sports activities. Workshops are also held to provide practical experiences to children, along with educational kits for various activities like clay modeling, printing, and painting.
Modern technology plays a role in education too. The program “Umbare Anganwadi” on YouTube offers course-based programs, creative activities, and positive parenting workshops for parents. This initiative aims to ensure that children receive adequate early education and support for their overall development.
The Anganwadi program reflects Gujarat’s commitment to improving children’s futures through education and development. It emphasizes the importance of early learning, which lays the foundation for lifelong success in education and personal growth. The state government continues to work tirelessly to provide every child with the opportunity for a bright future through education.
