Gujarat’s e-KYC Process for Ration Card Holders

Gujarat's e-KYC Process for Ration Card Holders

In Gujarat, over 3.14 crore ration card holders have completed their e-KYC process. This initiative is essential for beneficiaries to receive timely food supplies. The state government aims to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive aid, reducing duplication in the system. The e-KYC process can be done easily through various means, including the ‘My Ration App’. This mobile application allows users to complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes.

According to the Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Kunvarji Bavaliya, around 88% of NFSA ration card holders have successfully completed their e-KYC. This includes a significant number of children and senior citizens, with 5,70,363 children and 92,421 elderly beneficiaries participating. The government has been working hard to distribute food grains, achieving a distribution rate of 93.40% in June.

The e-KYC process helps the government verify the identities of beneficiaries. It ensures that they receive adequate food supplies. The process has been operational for 1.5 years, aimed at eliminating duplication and verifying each beneficiary’s eligibility.

To facilitate this, the state government has provided multiple options for completing e-KYC. Besides the ‘My Ration App’, beneficiaries can also approach local officials, school teachers, or use the ‘PDS Plus’ application through government employees. Furthermore, postal workers are visiting homes to assist with e-KYC using mobile applications.

Minister Bavaliya emphasized the importance of this initiative in the context of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) of 2013. The act ensures that each genuine beneficiary gets their rightful food supplies. The state government remains committed to supporting eligible ration card holders.

For those who need assistance with their e-KYC, it is encouraged to take help from local officials or through the postal service. This system is designed to simplify the process and ensure that everyone can access the benefits they are entitled to.

In summary, the e-KYC process in Gujarat represents a significant step towards enhancing food security for the state’s citizens. With a high rate of completion, the government is making strides to ensure that food supplies reach those who need them the most. The use of technology, such as mobile apps and home visits by postal workers, plays a crucial role in this initiative. Beneficiaries are urged to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible to continue receiving their benefits without any interruptions.
