The Gujarat government has announced the School Admission Festival for 2025. This event will take place from June 26 to June 28 across the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will lead this initiative. The main aim is to encourage school enrolment, especially for girls. This programme, started in 2003 by former Chief Minister Narendra Modi, aims to bring children into the educational system.
During these three days, officials will visit remote villages to ensure that every child has access to education. They will assist in registering students, distributing school kits, books, and providing mid-day meals. This initiative has significantly reduced the dropout rates in primary education over the years.
The festival will be held at various government and aided schools. Senior ministers and approximately 400 officials will attend the event to ensure its success. The Chief Minister will personally oversee admissions in Mahisagar district on June 26, Gandhinagar on June 27, and Kutch on June 28.
The School Admission Festival is complemented by the Kanya Kelavni Mahotsav, which focuses on educating and empowering girls. This year’s festival continues to promote educational equality and aims to reduce dropout rates further.
The government has integrated health data with its Child Tracking System to ensure that no child is left behind in education. This integration helps track every child’s educational journey and ensures their enrolment in schools.
On June 30, 2025, an online grievance redressal programme will also be held. Citizens can present their issues directly to the Chief Minister’s office. This will run from 8 AM to 11 AM at the Swarnim Sankul-2 in Gandhinagar.
The School Admission Festival is more than just a ceremony; it represents a commitment to improving education in Gujarat. It aims to ensure that children, especially girls, have the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment. The festival has shown positive outcomes in previous years, and the government hopes this year will be even more successful.
In conclusion, the School Admission Festival is a vital initiative for the educational landscape of Gujarat. With the continued efforts of the government and the support of the community, the aim is to achieve 100% enrolment and retention rates for all children in the state. The focus on girls’ education is particularly noteworthy, as it plays a crucial role in shaping a more equitable society.
