Halol Municipality Removes Illegal Encroachments from Main Market

Halol: On Wednesday, the Halol Municipality took action to remove illegal encroachments in the main market area. This action was necessary due to ongoing road construction work, which has been disrupted by these encroachments. The roads in Halol have deteriorated because of the underground drainage project. To improve the situation, new roads are being constructed in phases throughout the town.

Currently, work is underway on the main road in Halol’s market. However, some shopkeepers had illegally built stalls and platforms in front of their shops, which narrowed the market roads. This led to complaints from the public about accessibility. The municipality had previously requested shopkeepers to voluntarily remove these encroachments.

Despite this request, some shopkeepers did not comply. As a result, the Chief Officer of Halol Municipality, Hiralben Thakar, along with a team, arrived at the market to remove these illegal structures. During this operation, some shopkeepers reacted with anger as their stalls were dismantled.

Additionally, on Tharad Road, a tree had fallen, causing further obstruction. The municipality was informed about this, and they swiftly cleared the fallen tree, reopening the road immediately. This quick response highlights the municipality’s commitment to maintaining public access and ensuring the safety of residents.

In another note, the Mahalaxmi Temple in Halol recently celebrated the festival of Akho Nom with simple religious observances due to COVID-19 restrictions. Devotees participated in the rituals while adhering to health guidelines. The celebrations included Vedic chanting and a Yajna, allowing the community to honour their traditions while respecting safety measures. The presence of community leaders during the event underscored the importance of cultural practices, even in challenging times.

The removal of encroachments and the celebration at the Mahalaxmi Temple reflect the ongoing efforts of Halol Municipality to enhance civic facilities and preserve cultural heritage amidst modern challenges.
