The grand Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad is set to take place on June 27. This year, the event will see extensive preparations by the temple authorities and the local administration. Harsh Sanghvi, the Minister of State for Home Affairs in Gujarat, inspected the Rath Yatra route today. He assured that this year’s festival would be memorable and that arrangements have been made for devotees to have easy access to the celebrations.
The Rath Yatra, which is the largest in Gujarat, attracts thousands of pilgrims from not just the city but also from across the state and the country. The route stretches over 16 kilometers and will see the deployment of 23,884 police personnel to ensure security and smooth operations. Senior police officers at the IG level will oversee the arrangements.
To enhance security, 227 cameras from various agencies will be installed along the route. There will also be private cameras in operation. The feeds from these cameras will be monitored in the Police Commissioner’s control room. Furthermore, 2872 body-worn cameras will be used, along with 240 designated surveillance points. There will be 25 watch towers along the route to ensure safety.
In a proactive move, 17 public assistance centres will be set up to help families find lost children. Last year, around 65 children were reported missing during the Rath Yatra, highlighting the need for such initiatives. The public address system will feature 44 centres to keep crowds informed and safe during the festivities.
Harsh Sanghvi expressed confidence in the arrangements, stating, “We are using technology to ensure that the Rath Yatra is safe and enjoyable for everyone. Our goal is to make it a memorable experience for all attendees.”
The Rath Yatra is not just a religious event; it is a significant cultural celebration in Ahmedabad. Local authorities are working closely with the temple trust to ensure everything runs smoothly. Discussions have taken place regarding the security measures and the overall planning of the event.
This year, technology will play a crucial role in monitoring the event. In addition to the cameras, drones and helium balloons will also be employed to provide aerial surveillance. The use of these innovations is expected to enhance safety and crowd management.
The excitement in the city is palpable as residents prepare to celebrate this age-old tradition. The Rath Yatra is a symbol of faith and community spirit, drawing people together to celebrate their beliefs. Harsh Sanghvi’s visit and the extensive planning indicate the importance of this event to the local government and the community.
As the date approaches, more details about the Rath Yatra will be shared with the public to ensure everyone is informed and prepared. The government urges all citizens to participate respectfully and enjoy the festivities responsibly. This year’s Rath Yatra promises to be a grand celebration, showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Gujarat while ensuring the safety of all participants.
