HCL Tech Plants 49,000 Trees to Celebrate 49th Anniversary

HCL Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of HCL Tech, marked the 49th anniversary of the HCL Group with a significant tree planting initiative. This event took place across various cities in India, including Noida, Nagpur, Pune, Bengaluru, and Lucknow. The foundation successfully planted 49,000 saplings as part of this initiative.

Employees of HCL Tech, along with their families, nonprofit partners, women’s groups, and community members participated enthusiastically. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of working together for environmental sustainability.

Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President of Global CSR at HCL Tech, expressed pride in the company’s commitment to the environment. She stated, “As we celebrate 49 years of innovation and impact, this plantation drive is a strong statement of our environmental responsibility. We have planted over 3.2 million saplings, restored 73,000 acres of land, and harvested 107 billion liters of water. This shows our belief that technology and sustainability can work hand in hand.”

The initiative reflects HCL’s dedication to creating a greener future. The tree planting activity is part of a broader strategy to enhance biodiversity and combat climate change. HCL Foundation aims to encourage more companies and individuals to engage in similar environmental efforts.

In addition to the tree planting, HCL Foundation has been active in other social initiatives. They have renewed partnerships with various organizations to support children’s education and health in urban slums. One notable partnership is with the Tamil Nadu Police, aimed at empowering children through sports and education.

Furthermore, HCL Foundation has been recognized for its significant contributions to water conservation. They received the National Water Award for their efforts in holistic water management across India. Their initiatives have led to the harvesting of billions of liters of water and the rejuvenation of numerous water bodies.

The foundation also launched the ‘Generation for Climate Action’ initiative, promoting sustainability education in schools. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to combat climate change and reduce their carbon footprint.

As HCL Foundation continues its commitment to environmental sustainability and community development, it encourages others to join in these crucial efforts. The success of this tree planting drive demonstrates that collective action can lead to significant positive change for our planet.

In summary, HCL Tech’s anniversary celebration was not just a milestone for the company but also a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future. The enthusiasm shown by employees and community members serves as an inspiration for future environmental initiatives.
