On June 24, 16 districts in Saurashtra and South Gujarat are likely to see thunderstorms along with heavy rainfall. Orange alerts were issued for Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, and Valsad, while yellow alerts were placed for districts like Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Vadodara.
The rainfall in the region has been intense, with Sabarkantha district recording the highest rainfall in North Gujarat. Within 24 hours, Vadali, a town in Sabarkantha, received an impressive 12.2 inches of rain. This heavy rain caused flooding in various locations within the district, disrupting normal life.
The data released by the meteorological department shows that Sabarkantha has had the most rainfall in the last 24 hours. Other areas in Sabarkantha also recorded significant rainfall, such as Khedbrahma, which received 10.3 inches, and Idar, which saw 4.9 inches of rain. So far this monsoon season, Saurashtra has recorded about 20% more rainfall than average, while the eastern central parts of the state have seen around 16%.
