Heavy Rain in Ambaji Causes Damage to Power Poles and Trees

In Ambaji, heavy rain and strong winds struck late last night, causing significant damage. The storm affected several areas, flooding shops and homes. Two power poles and four to five trees fell due to the strong winds. Emergency crews worked quickly to clear roads blocked by fallen trees. The route between Danta and Ambaji, known as the Trishuliya Ghat, became hazardous. Many pilgrims prefer this route to visit Ambaji, but the rocky terrain poses risks for both pedestrians and drivers.

Landslides and falling rocks are common in this area, especially during heavy rain or storms. Recently, blasting work was done to widen the road, which has led to loose rocks on the mountainside. If heavy rain occurs, it could trigger more rocks to fall. This situation could be dangerous for anyone traveling on the road below.

Farmers are also facing challenges due to the rain. Many crops, especially the millet, have been damaged. Previously, half of the millet crop was already affected by rain, and last night’s downpour has worsened the situation. Farmers are worried as their crops are now unusable, not just for them but also for livestock.

As heavy rain continues to hit the region, many areas in Gujarat have reported similar weather. In Ahmedabad, several areas experienced flooding after a sudden downpour, with reports of over 60 mm of rain in some parts. The Meteorological Department predicts more rain in the coming days, which could lead to further damage and disruptions. Farmers and residents alike are urged to stay alert and prepared for these weather conditions.
