Gujarat experienced significant rainfall recently, with some areas receiving over 9 inches in just 24 hours. According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, the total average rainfall across the state as of June 19, 2025, was reported at 113.63 mm, which is approximately 12.87% of the expected average for this time of year.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Dang district, particularly in the Dang-Aahwa region, which saw over 9.8 inches. Valsad’s Kaprada area also experienced heavy rainfall, with measurements reaching 9.5 inches. Other regions within Dang, such as Waghai and Subir, reported over 7 inches of rain, while Dharampur in Valsad and Wansda in Navsari recorded over 6 inches.
Additionally, areas like Khergam in Navsari and Dolvan in Tapi witnessed more than 4 inches of rainfall. Many other locations across the state received significant amounts of rain, with Manasa and Dehgam in Gandhinagar, Sutrapada in Gir Somnath, and various places in Valsad, Panchmahal, and Navsari reporting over 3 inches.
SEOC’s report highlights that in the last 24 hours, 17 talukas received over 2 inches of rain, while 37 talukas saw more than 1 inch. Overall, rainfall was recorded in 160 talukas across 27 districts in Gujarat.
Specifically, between 6 AM and 10 AM on June 19, 2025, heavy rain was noted in Olpad (Surat), Dharampur (Valsad), and Hansot (Bharuch), all receiving over 3 inches. Valiya in Bharuch and Umarpada in Surat also reported over 2.5 inches.
The monsoon season is crucial for Gujarat’s agriculture, and this early rainfall is a positive sign for farmers. However, local authorities are on alert to ensure safety and manage any potential flooding or disruptions caused by the heavy rains.
