Gujarat is experiencing heavy rainfall, causing significant disruption to daily life. The state has recorded an average rainfall of 21.15%. According to spokesperson Minister Rishikesh Patel, Kutch received 21.65%, while northern Gujarat saw 14.90%. Eastern and central Gujarat experienced 20.25%, and Saurashtra recorded 26.00%. Southern Gujarat had 20.71%, leading to an overall average of 886.51 mm of rain across the state.
In the Mahisagar district, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging in Lunawada. Roads were submerged due to the rain, causing difficulties for commuters. Areas like Darkoli Darwaja and Hatdiya market have also been affected, with local flooding reported on the Lunawada-Ahmedabad highway. The rain has brought joy to farmers after a long wait, but it has also revealed issues with pre-monsoon preparations by the Lunawada municipality.
In Chhotaudepur, heavy rainfall has isolated the village of Sindhidiya. The area received over an inch of rain within four hours, causing roads to flood and making it impossible for residents to travel.
Panchmahal district has also felt the impact of heavy rainfall. Jambughoda recorded 2.5 inches of rain, causing rivers and drains to overflow. Continuous rainfall is ongoing across the district, with Pavagadh also experiencing significant downpours. The rain has caused rivers in the area to swell, leading to difficulties for pilgrims visiting the site.
The Aravalli district saw torrential rainfall as well, particularly in Modasa’s Sardoi area. Roads were submerged, leading to trouble for drivers. In Dahod, the city of Limdi was also hit hard, with water entering many societies, causing residents to face hardships.
Narmada district reported heavy rainfall since early morning, affecting daily life. Waterlogged areas in Vadiya village raised concerns among residents, particularly in the Satyam Nagar society, where water levels threatened to enter homes. In some areas, roads became impassable, forcing residents to risk their safety to navigate through flooded streets.
Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and emergency services are on standby to assist those affected. As the monsoon season progresses, further rainfall is expected, and residents are advised to stay vigilant and prepared for potential flooding and disruptions.
