In a significant announcement, the Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Doodhsagar Dairy) revealed a historic payout of ₹437 crores to dairy farmers during its annual general meeting. This announcement was made by Chairman Ashokbhai Chaudhari on Monday. Along with this payout, dairy cooperatives will receive a 10% share dividend.
The dairy has also increased the subsidy for dairy farmers from 30% to 40%. This subsidy applies to equipment like chaff cutters, animal carts, and cooling fans. Additionally, the insurance payout for farmers in case of death has been raised from ₹2 lakh to ₹4 lakh.
Chairman Chaudhari highlighted that over the past four and a half years, the dairy has made necessary investments and improved milk prices significantly. Despite these investments, the balance sheet remains healthy. He remarked that in the 64-year history of the dairy, they achieved the highest turnover of ₹8,054 crores and the highest milk collection of 127.33 crores. This reflects a true transformation of the dairy.
Doodhsagar Dairy operates in Mehsana city and serves the surrounding areas, including Patan district. It is run cooperatively by milk producers and is involved in various activities such as distributing animal feed, providing treatment for sick animals, and offering guidance on animal husbandry.
This payout and the increased subsidies will greatly benefit local farmers, helping them improve their livelihoods. The cooperative model has proven effective in empowering farmers and ensuring sustainable dairy production in the region.
The Doodhsagar Dairy has been pivotal in supporting the dairy farming community, and these recent developments show their commitment to enhancing the welfare of farmers. With the increased financial support, farmers can invest more in their operations, leading to better productivity and income.
The cooperative aims to continue this positive trend, fostering growth and innovation in the dairy sector. As farmers receive more support, the quality of dairy products is expected to improve, benefiting consumers as well.
Overall, the announcements made during the annual meeting mark a new chapter for dairy farmers in Mehsana, showcasing the importance of cooperatives in rural development and economic stability.
