Home Guard Receives Financial Aid After Tragic Death During PM Modi's Event

On a recent Monday, a tragic incident occurred in Vadodara during a public event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A 29-year-old Home Guard, Niteshbhai Jariya, died of a heart attack while on duty. The incident took place during the ‘Sindoor Sanman Yatra’, a programme to welcome the Prime Minister. Niteshbhai was assigned to provide security for the event and had been on duty for two days.

On the day of the incident, Niteshbhai suddenly experienced chest pain at around 8:00 AM. His colleagues quickly rushed him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be saved. Initial reports suggest that he suffered a heart attack. Niteshbhai leaves behind a wife, who is a homemaker, and a one-year-old child.

Niteshbhai’s death is particularly devastating as he was the sole breadwinner of his family. In response to this tragedy, Rajeshbhai Ayer, a former corporator of the BJP, made a special request to the Chief Minister. As a result, the state government decided to provide ₹2 lakh (approximately £2,000) to the family, and the Director General of Police also pledged an additional ₹2 lakh.

Typically, when a Home Guard loses their life in the line of duty, the family receives only ₹5,000. However, in this special case, the family was granted a total of ₹4,05,000 (approximately £4,000) in financial assistance. This was presented to them by Home Guard Commandant Gourangbhai Joshi and officer Manishbhai Trivedi from the DG’s office.

Furthermore, the family was assured that Niteshbhai’s brother would be offered a job to help support them in this difficult time. The incident has highlighted the risks faced by Home Guards and the importance of support for their families in the event of such tragedies.

Niteshbhai’s death has raised awareness about the critical role played by Home Guards in ensuring public safety during significant events. Their dedication to duty often goes unrecognised, and incidents like this remind us of the sacrifices they make for the community.

As the community mourns Niteshbhai’s passing, there is hope that his family will receive the support they need to cope with this loss. The financial aid provided will surely help ease some of their burdens during this difficult time. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of looking after those who serve and protect us.

The community has come together to pay their respects and honour the memory of Niteshbhai, acknowledging the risks involved in the line of duty. As they remember his dedication and service, they also call for better support systems for all Home Guards and their families in Gujarat.
