Nadiad: A highway hotel named ‘New Maya’, located near Tarapur Chowkdi, has had its license revoked by the Gujarat State Transport (ST) Corporation. This decision came after a serious food safety violation was reported. The incident occurred when a bus from the Junagadh division, operating on the Upleta-Kavant route, made a stop at the hotel. During this stop, a driver discovered a worm in the food served at the hotel. A video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting immediate action from the authorities.
Upon learning of the situation, the ST Corporation conducted an investigation. The findings confirmed the violation, leading to the swift revocation of the hotel’s operating license in accordance with the conditions set for food service establishments. This action highlights the corporation’s commitment to maintaining food safety standards across its services.
In addition to this incident, the ST Corporation is also ensuring that all licensed hotels along various state highways meet health and safety regulations. The Food and Drugs Department, in consultation with legal and scientific advisors, is overseeing inspections to prevent any future irregularities regarding the quality of food and facilities provided to passengers and staff.
