In a historic event for Gujarat, more than 2,000 students received guidance from four UPSC toppers. This initiative took place in Banaskantha district, led by District Collector Mihir Patel. It aimed to support students preparing for competitive exams. The free seminar was held at the Nagar Palika Town Hall in Palanpur. It was a joint effort by the district administration and SIPA, Ahmedabad.
The seminar featured notable speakers, including Harshita Goyal, who secured the second rank in the UPSC CSE-2024 exam. Other speakers included Margi Shah and Smita Panchal, who achieved the fourth and third ranks, respectively. Also present was Brijesh Barot, who ranked 507th in the same exam, along with Brijesh Patel from SIPA.
Collector Mihir Patel advised students on the importance of self-motivation in preparing for competitive exams. He stressed the need for students to believe in themselves and maintain a positive attitude. This year, three Gujarati toppers ranked between one and thirty, which is a point of pride for the state. He encouraged the students present to aim for even greater success in the future.
Harshita Goyal, a 24-year-old from Vadodara, shared her journey with the students. She mentioned that she was a chartered accountant and decided to prepare for civil services to serve the country and bring positive change to society. Harshita highlighted that setting goals, dreaming big, and putting in hard work are crucial for success. She noted that failures are just steps towards achieving goals. Regular tests and adhering to a timetable are also vital, along with a positive mindset.
Margi Shah, who secured the fourth rank, spoke about the importance of gratitude for small things in life. She is a 26-year-old engineer who faced personal challenges, including losing her father in 2017. Despite this, she worked hard and achieved her goals. Margi encouraged parents to trust their children in their pursuits.
Brijesh Barot, who ranked 507th, emphasized that students from all backgrounds, including arts and commerce, can succeed in the UPSC exams. He suggested reading NCERT books and Indian Express regularly to stay informed. He also mentioned using modern tools like ChatGPT and YouTube for effective preparation.
Students preparing for competitive exams, such as Parth Rawal from Palanpur, expressed gratitude for the guidance received during the seminar. He thanked the district administration and Collector Mihir Patel for their support.
This seminar not only provided valuable insights but also inspired students to pursue their dreams with determination. The presence of successful individuals motivated the youth to strive for excellence. It is hoped that many more students from Banaskantha will achieve great success in future UPSC exams.
