On June 21, Bhavnagar celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day under the theme ‘One Earth, One Health’. The event took place at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex on Sidusar Road. Many residents participated in yoga practices, promoting health and wellness. Central Minister Smt. Nimuben Bhambhaniya chaired the event. She emphasized the importance of yoga in daily life, stating, “Yoga removes diseases” and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga for a healthier lifestyle.
International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21 since 2015. It was officially declared by the United Nations after a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. The day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and spiritual health.
During the event, Smt. Bhambhaniya mentioned that millions of people worldwide participate in Yoga Day celebrations. In Bhavnagar alone, about 200,000 citizens engaged in yoga activities. She noted that across India, around 1 million people participated in various events.
Yoga encourages a healthy lifestyle and wellness. The state government has called for a healthy Gujarat, focusing on the motto of “Yoga removes diseases”. The Prime Minister urged people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and contribute to a healthy nation.
The event featured demonstrations of various yoga poses and breathing exercises by Shri Jigneshbhai Patel from the Gujarat State Yoga Board. He highlighted the energy and inspiration that yoga can bring to individuals. The celebrations also included live broadcasts of yoga sessions led by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel.
Many notable figures attended the event, including District Collector Dr. Manish Kumar Bansal and various officials, students, and yoga enthusiasts. They all gathered to promote the benefits of yoga and its role in enhancing quality of life.
