International Yoga Day Celebrated in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar recently celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. Over 3,000 participants gathered at the Central Vista Garden for a special yoga session. The event was led by Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, the Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly, and attended by the Minister of Women and Child Welfare, Shri Bhanuben Babariya.

During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a virtual address from Visakhapatnam, wishing everyone well on Yoga Day. He highlighted how yoga has given India a global identity. According to him, yoga is not just a physical exercise but a way to connect the body, mind, and soul. Regular practice of yoga helps purify the body and mind.

Shri Chaudhary stated that practicing yoga outdoors helps people appreciate the importance of fresh air from trees. He emphasised that it is our duty to protect trees, which benefit our health and the environment. The event also aimed to bring people closer to nature and promote its conservation.

Gandhinagar Mayor, Smt. Miraben Patel, also spoke at the event. She reminded everyone of the power and benefits of yoga. She mentioned that yoga helps achieve a balanced and peaceful life. This year, the Gujarat government has launched a campaign called ‘Medswita Mukta Gujarat’ to raise awareness against sedentary lifestyles and obesity. New yoga studios are being built across different areas of Gandhinagar, including a special iconic yoga studio at Ch-0.

The celebration also saw the presence of various dignitaries, including MLA Smt. Ritaben Patel, and Dr. Mayor Shri Natvarji Thakor. Many officials and yoga enthusiasts, including students and women, attended the event in large numbers, showcasing the community’s commitment to health and wellness.

Overall, the celebration of Yoga Day reflects the growing recognition of yoga as an essential part of daily life and wellness in Gujarat. The event successfully united people in their pursuit of health, peace, and harmony through yoga.
