International Yoga Day Celebrated in Gandhinagar with Theme 'One Earth, One Health'

Gandhinagar celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21 with the theme ‘One Earth, One Health’. More than 200,000 people participated in events organised at 1,465 locations across the district. The main event took place at the Sector-27 Parade Ground. The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation also held celebrations at Central Vista Garden.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the event virtually from Andhra Pradesh. Yoga sessions were also held at various historical sites, including the Rupal Vardayini Mataji Temple, the historic Ambapur Stepwell, and the Adalaj Trimandir.

At the Raj Bhavan, the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, led a collective yoga session with the Raj Bhavan family. This year’s theme highlights the importance of health for both the planet and its inhabitants. The event aimed to promote yoga as a means to improve physical and mental well-being.

In Anand district, similar celebrations were planned, with events scheduled at Shastri Maidan in Vallabh Vidyanagar. The local administration invited citizens to join the celebrations, encouraging participation from students, officials, and residents.

The district collector, Praveen Chaudhary, urged everyone to take part in the yoga sessions. Events will take place at various locations, including Mandda Talav in Khambhat, Surya Mandir in Borsad, and other venues in Umreth and Petlad. The Anand district aims to engage people and promote yoga as a vital part of a healthy lifestyle.

Every year, the United Nations marks June 21 as International Yoga Day, celebrating the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. This year’s focus is on creating a healthier planet and community through the practice of yoga.

Yoga Day celebrations in Gujarat are part of a larger effort by the Ministry of Culture to organise yoga sessions at 100 major tourist sites across the country. Upcoming events will also include a major yoga programme in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Modi will participate.

Overall, International Yoga Day serves as a reminder of the importance of health and wellness, both for individuals and the environment. The participation of thousands in Gujarat showcases the growing interest in yoga and its benefits, encouraging a healthier lifestyle for all.
