In a significant move, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has successfully cleared 331 illegal constructions along the road from Swaminarayan Nagar to Gandhinagar. This operation, which started recently, aimed to widen a 12-meter road. Over the course of five days, the local authorities demolished approximately 40 shops, more than 60 houses, a temple, and a shrine, creating an open space of about 451,000 square feet.
The demolition process was carried out with a strong police presence to ensure safety and security. Officers from the City Division, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police and other ranks, were on-site to manage the operation. Many citizens gathered to witness the event, which required temporary closure of the Gandhinagar Main Road to prevent accidents.
The road, which spans around 3.5 kilometers, has seen significant changes. As the illegal structures were removed, multiple teams worked diligently to clear debris and prepare the road for future use. The municipal corporation plans to implement immediate improvements, including the installation of dividers, road markings, and new paving.
This initiative not only facilitates better traffic flow but also aims to ease movement for over 200,000 residents in the area. The authorities are keen on ensuring that the road is functional and accessible as soon as possible. In the near future, residents will benefit from a newly constructed pathway from Gandhinagar to Swaminarayan Nagar.
