Dholera, a special investment region (SIR) in Gujarat, is gaining attention from several Japanese companies looking to invest in the semiconductor sector. This comes during the visit of Japan’s Ambassador to India, Mr. Ono Keiichi, who expressed gratitude towards the support provided by the Gujarat government to Japanese businesses.
Dholera is seen as a second home for Japan, having two Japanese townships and various facilities that cater to Japanese industries. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the state’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure for the semiconductor sector.
During his three-day visit, Ambassador Ono met with over 150 leading investors in Ahmedabad and later discussed investment opportunities with Chief Minister Patel. The meeting highlighted the growing Japanese presence in Gujarat, which now hosts over 350 Japanese companies.
Ambassador Ono pointed out that Japan is eager to strengthen its ties with Gujarat as India and Japan celebrate 50 years of friendship. He stated that the Gujarat government’s support for Japanese companies is commendable.
The Chief Minister mentioned that Dholera is being developed as a ‘semiconductor city’ to attract investments in this crucial industry. The state government is focused on creating a conducive environment for these companies, with promises of timely delivery of world-class infrastructure facilities.
The visit also included discussions on how Japan’s expertise in the semiconductor industry can benefit Gujarat. The state is keen on improving its industrial infrastructure, social infrastructure, and human resource development to attract more Japanese investments.
Ambassador Ono highlighted the importance of Dholera SIR in developing the semiconductor sector and how Japanese companies are keen to invest in it. He requested the Gujarat government to enhance facilities that would support this sector’s growth.
The Gujarat government is actively working on developing the necessary infrastructure for Dholera, including roads, utilities, and housing. The area is set to become a hub for semiconductors, electronics, renewable energy, and other key industries.
Dholera is also part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, which aims to boost economic growth in the region. The government’s initiatives to facilitate business operations have led to a significant increase in land prices, reflecting the growing investor interest.
With several major infrastructure projects underway, including the Dholera International Airport and the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, the region is poised for rapid growth. These developments are expected to improve connectivity and attract more investors.
As the Chief Minister continues to promote Dholera as a prime investment destination, the future looks bright for Gujarat in the semiconductor sector. The collaboration between India and Japan is set to create numerous job opportunities and enhance the economic landscape of the region.
