Jivram Joshi Balwarta Abhiyan Launched in Ahmedabad

The Gujarat Educational and Cultural Forum has become a well-known name in education projects. It has been working on various educational initiatives, guiding public exams and publishing high-quality educational materials. The forum has launched many activities focused on students, all driven by a spirit of dedication and volunteerism. On July 6th, the ‘Jivram Joshi Balwarta Abhiyan’ was inaugurated at SGVP Campus in Ahmedabad. This event celebrated the 121st birth anniversary of the renowned children’s author, Jivram Joshi. The aim of the initiative is to pay homage to Joshi and to revive the fading tradition of children’s storytelling.

The program featured blessings from Sant Shri Yajnavallabh Swami, who emphasized the importance of such activities in preserving our cultural heritage. He noted that this initiative would strengthen our commitment to these traditions.

The event was coordinated by Takubhai Sandasur, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of making storytelling a central part of children’s education. He expressed pride that over 60 speakers have committed to spreading children’s stories to more than 400 schools.

Yashwant Mehta, another prominent children’s writer, spoke about the role of children’s activities in shaping lives and instilling values. He noted that the creators of such stories often lead long and fulfilling lives. Pulkit Joshi, the assistant secretary of the Gujarat Secondary Education Board, stated that the campaign aims to reach every corner of Gujarat and all 33,000 schools in the state.

Bhargav Joshi, Jivram Joshi’s son and a film producer, shared insights into his father’s life, highlighting many memorable moments. Actress Prapti Ajwaliya thanked everyone for their participation in the excellent program. Dr. Shraddhaben Trivedi discussed relevant issues related to children’s stories, while educationists like Sukdev Patel and Dr. Nishad Oz contributed with impactful speeches.

The event also had a significant attendance from education providers across 18 districts of Gujarat. Organisers like Sanjaybhai Patel, Pradipsinh Sindha, and others played important roles in ensuring the success of the initiative. The overall aim is to make storytelling a vibrant part of children’s lives once again, celebrating the legacy of Jivram Joshi, whose contributions to children’s literature are invaluable.

Jivram Joshi (1905-2004) created many beloved characters in Gujarati literature, like Miya Phuski and Tabha Bhatt. His stories have entertained children for generations and continue to inspire new works in plays, serials, and films. The ‘Jivram Joshi Balwarta Abhiyan’ is a step towards keeping his legacy alive and ensuring that the joy of storytelling lives on in the hearts of children today.
