In a recent operation, Kadi police arrested a woman for selling ganja near the Vadwala Hanumanji Temple. The woman, identified as Neelam Ravibhai Vanzha, was found with 170.700 grams of ganja, valued at ₹1,707. This is not her first offence, as she was caught selling ganja at the same location a few months ago.
The operation was initiated following instructions from Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, who mandated strict actions under the NDPS Act. With substantial information, Kadi police conducted a raid with the presence of government officials. The woman used plastic bags to sell the ganja, making it easy to conceal her activities.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at the scene to confirm the substance was indeed ganja. Following this, police seized the material and registered a case against the woman, leading to her arrest.
This incident is part of a larger crackdown on drug-related activities in Gujarat. Recently, the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Jamnagar also arrested a woman while she was selling ganja from her home. The authorities discovered 535 grams of ganja during the raid.
The SOG acted on a tip-off that led them to a couple involved in the drug trade in Jamnagar. Despite the husband’s escape, the police arrested the woman and registered a case against them under the NDPS Act.
In another instance, the SOG in Sikka caught another woman selling 160 grams of ganja. This woman confessed she obtained the ganja from another seller in the area, showing how interconnected the drug trade is in these regions.
Authorities are determined to combat drug trafficking and have increased patrols and raids in suspected areas. The police appeal to the public to provide information about any suspicious activities. They stress the importance of community involvement in tackling this issue.
Gujarat has seen a rise in drug-related incidents, with law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to curb this trend. The government has recognised the serious implications of drug abuse and is committed to eliminating it from society.
As part of their efforts, police are conducting awareness campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of drugs. They encourage individuals to refrain from engaging in illegal activities and seek help if needed.
The recent arrests highlight the ongoing battle against the drug trade in Gujarat. Authorities remain vigilant and continue to take action against those involved in illegal activities. The community’s support is crucial in creating a safer environment for everyone.
