Kesar Keri Mahotsav Sets Record Sales in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is enjoying a sweet treat this summer. The Kesar Keri Mahotsav, a festival dedicated to the famous Kesar mango, has been a big success. This year, the festival has seen record-breaking sales. Farmers sold over 3.30 lakh kilograms of Kesar mangoes, earning around 4 crore rupees. This marks the highest sales ever in the festival’s history.

The festival was held from May 14 to June 13, 2025, at the Vastrapur Haat in Ahmedabad. It was launched by Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel. The aim was to provide citizens with chemical-free mangoes. The government is keen to support farmers while also ensuring that the public can enjoy safe and natural produce.

The Kesar Keri Mahotsav has been celebrated annually since 2007. It allows farmers to sell directly to buyers, cutting out middlemen. This approach helps farmers earn approximately 20% more profit. With around 85 stalls at the event, 45 were set up by registered farmers, while others included individual producers and farmer cooperatives.

More than 100,000 visitors attended the festival this year. They came to buy fresh, chemical-free mangoes. The festival has become a vital link between urban consumers and rural producers. It highlights the importance of trust and direct communication between the two groups.

The Kesar mango is well-known and has gained popularity not just in India but worldwide. The demand for Kesar mangoes is growing, especially in regions like Gir-Somnath and Junagadh. Farmers in these areas are increasing their production to meet this demand. The state government, through the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation, is supporting these efforts by organizing events like the Kesar Keri Mahotsav.

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission to double farmers’ incomes and promote organic farming. The festival is a perfect example of how local agriculture can thrive while providing quality products to consumers. The Kesar Keri Mahotsav is more than just a market; it fosters community connections and encourages healthy eating.

In conclusion, the Kesar Keri Mahotsav has not only brought delicious mangoes to the people of Ahmedabad but has also set a new standard for farmer-consumer interactions. It proves that with proper support and initiative, the agricultural sector can flourish and benefit everyone involved.
