Kesar Mango Festival 2025: Ahmedabad Residents Enjoy Chemical-Free Delights

Ahmedabad is buzzing with excitement as the Kesar Mango Festival 2025 takes place this summer. The festival aims to promote chemical-free mangoes, allowing city residents to enjoy this delicious fruit while supporting local farmers. This year, the festival was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel on May 14, 2025, and will continue until June 13, 2025.

The Kesar Mango Festival is a yearly event held in Ahmedabad to help local farmers sell their produce directly to consumers. It was established in 2007 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase farmers’ incomes and promote natural farming. This year, the festival has set a record with over 3.3 lakh kilograms of mangoes sold, generating around 4 crore rupees in sales.

More than 85 stalls have been set up at the Vastrapur Haat, where farmers can showcase their mangoes. Out of these stalls, 45 are allocated to farmers registered under the Atma Samiti scheme, 21 to individual mango producers, and 12 to farmer producer organisations. This direct selling model helps farmers earn about 20% more profit compared to traditional selling methods, cutting out middlemen.

The festival has attracted over a lakh visitors, who come to buy fresh, chemical-free Kesar mangoes. This initiative not only provides quality mangoes to the public but also fosters direct communication and trust between urban consumers and rural producers.

The demand for Kesar mangoes has grown not just in India but also internationally. Farmers from regions like Gir-Somnath, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Kutch, and South Gujarat are increasing their production to meet this demand. The Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation plays a vital role in facilitating these sales, ensuring that farmers can sell their chemical-free mangoes directly to consumers.

Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel highlighted the success of this year’s festival, stating that it has been the most fruitful yet, with residents enthusiastically enjoying the chemical-free mangoes. The festival serves as a platform for farmers to connect with consumers and gain recognition for their quality produce.

As the festival continues, it is expected to further boost the local economy and support the livelihoods of farmers in Gujarat. The Kesar Mango Festival is not just an event for shopping; it is a celebration of agriculture, health, and community spirit in Ahmedabad. Residents are encouraged to visit the festival and experience the joy of buying fresh, delicious Kesar mangoes straight from the farmers.
