At just 24 years old, Khushaliben Kanji Bhai Rabari has made a significant mark in her village, becoming the newly elected Sarpanch. This young leader from Kada village in Mehsana district won her position with a remarkable lead of 1,320 votes in the recent Gram Panchayat elections. Her victory is not just a personal achievement; it represents hope and inspiration for many women in her community.
Khushaliben is currently in her final year of nursing studies at S.K. University in Visnagar. Although she considered working abroad after completing her degree, her interest in politics grew after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She expressed, “Seeing Modi Sahib inspired my interest in leadership. Now, I want to serve my village and improve our basic facilities.”
Her dedication to her community is evident as she prepares to lead her village in various development projects. Khushaliben has plans to enhance infrastructure, including roads and other essential services. She aims to address any issues faced by her fellow villagers, ensuring that their needs are met.
Khushaliben’s journey is further remarkable as she recalls participating in the School Entrance Festival, a program initiated by Modi in 2003. She herself was a beneficiary of this program when she enrolled in her village’s primary school back in 2006. Now, as the Sarpanch, she will oversee the School Entrance Festival on June 27, 2025, helping to admit children into school and ensuring they have access to education.
Her family’s support has been crucial in her journey. With two younger brothers and her parents standing by her side, Khushaliben’s success has filled her household with pride and joy. She serves as a role model for women in her village, showing them that leadership is attainable regardless of age or gender.
As the results of the elections were announced, there was a festive atmosphere in Mehsana district. Voter turnout was impressive, with over 83% participation in the polls. This high engagement reflects the community’s eagerness for change and improvement.
The elections covered 303 Gram Panchayats, with a total of 794 voting centres. The excitement was palpable, with villagers gathering to witness the counting process. Heavy police presence ensured order during the event, as many awaited the results with bated breath.
Khushaliben’s victory is a beacon of hope for young leaders in Gujarat. Her story highlights the importance of youth participation in politics and the impact that dedicated individuals can have on their communities. With her commitment to improving the lives of her fellow villagers, Khushaliben is set to inspire a new generation of leaders in Gujarat and beyond.
