A shocking incident has occurred in Karmasad, a town in Anand district, Gujarat. A 27-year-old man named Mihir Ramjibhai Rabari was kidnapped and threatened over a gold parcel worth 93 lakh rupees (approximately $112,000) that was meant to be picked up from America. The incident involves 13 identified suspects and around 10 other individuals, highlighting a serious case of extortion and kidnapping.
Mihir, who lives with his family and works in animal husbandry, was lured into the situation by Nirmal Kanubhai Rabari and Jayesh Mafatbhai Rabari. They promised him a commission for picking up the parcel from a man named Akshay Patel, who currently resides in New Jersey, USA. However, things took a dark turn when Akshay switched off his phone, leaving Mihir without any means to claim the parcel.
Desperate to retrieve the money tied to the gold parcel, the suspects, including Nirmal and Jayesh, forcibly abducted Mihir. They took him to two different farmhouses where they physically assaulted him and threatened him with death if he did not hand over the money. The incident escalated as they coerced Mihir in both locations, demanding the $93,000 in gold.
During the ordeal, the group threatened Mihir, saying they would kill him if he did not comply. They made it clear that they were serious about their threats. Fortunately, Mihir managed to escape when he was transported back to the Karmasad area. As he was being driven away, he had a brief chance to flee from the vehicle and sought help.
After escaping, Mihir reported the incident to the Petlad Rural Police Station. The police have begun an investigation into the case, led by the Anand Local Crime Branch (LCB). This incident raises concerns about the safety of individuals involved in such financial transactions, especially when they involve international dealings.
This is not the first time such a case has been reported in the area. About a year and a half ago, a similar case of a parcel scam was reported, indicating a troubling trend in Karmasad and surrounding areas. The police are now looking into whether these incidents are connected and what measures can be taken to protect residents from such criminal activities.
As the investigation continues, community leaders are urging residents to be cautious when dealing with unknown individuals, especially in financial matters. They recommend verifying the legitimacy of any offers before proceeding with transactions that involve large sums of money.
The local community is shaken by this incident, and many are calling for increased police presence and better safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The police are also asking anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist in the investigation. It is crucial for the safety of the community that such crimes are addressed promptly and effectively.
In conclusion, the kidnapping and extortion of Mihir Rabari in Karmasad serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with financial dealings, especially those involving parcels from abroad. The authorities are taking this matter seriously, and the community hopes for swift justice against those responsible for this heinous crime.
