Legal Action Against Food Safety Violations in Panchmahal District

In a recent move to protect public health, the food safety department of Panchmahal district has taken strict action against four food businesses. These businesses were found selling substandard food products that do not meet quality standards. The state food laboratory reported that four food samples were tested and deemed unfit for consumption.

Following this report, cases were filed against the businesses under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The adjudicating officer and the resident deputy collector of Godhra initiated these legal actions. In total, the businesses were fined ₹1.7 lakh for their violations.

The fined businesses include:
1. Patel Cold Drinks (Retailer) – Mango Milkshake (Loose) – ₹15,000
2. Jawahar Farsan Mart – Cow Ghee (Shri Makhan Mistry Brand) – ₹10,000
3. Harsh Marketing – Cow Ghee – ₹25,000
4. Shri Matangi Dairy and Food Products – Cow Ghee – ₹25,000
5. Tasty Vada Pav Centre (Mith Arunkumar Kaka and Viratbhai Pandya) – Vimal Light Fat Spread – ₹10,000
6. Vimal Oils and Foods Limited (Manufacturer) – Vimal Light Fat Spread – ₹50,000
7. Rajnikant and Company (Kirtikumar Patel and Shakuntalaben Patel) – Cow Ghee (Somani Brand) – ₹10,000
8. Purvit Product (Hareshkumar Modi) – Cow Ghee (Somani Brand) – ₹25,000

The designated officer of the district food and drug control department, Mr. M.B. Gameti, stated that the government is committed to taking strict actions against the sale of contaminated and substandard food products. Regular checks will continue to ensure food safety in the district.
